Opening ceremony

Opening ceremony

A Model United Nations conference traditionally begins with an Opening Ceremony. At the Opening Ceremony we will provide participants with inspiring speakers to put our conference into a greater context. This year we are more than happy to announce that the President of the Hamburg Parliament, Carola Veit, invited us to host our HamMUN Opening Ceremony in the most pompous hall in the most prestigious building Hamburg has to offer: The City Hall!

The Hamburg City Hall (in German: "Hamburger Rathaus") as we know it today is a neo-renaissance building that has been built from 1886 to 1897 and survived World War II almost unharmed. It is located in the Altstadt and represents the very heart of the city. The city hall the seat of the government of Hamburg and as such, the seat of one of Germany's 16 state parliaments.

The HamMUN Opening Ceremony will start on Friday, at 10am in the Hamburg Rathaus (Address: Rathausmarkt 1).

We highly encourage all participants to attend he ceremony.

(Please note that the first session starts on Thursday, 6pm at the University of Hamburg.)

You can get to the city hall by either taking the U3 subway line to the stop "Rathaus" or the S-Bahn line S1, S2 or S3 to "Jungfernstieg". Or simply by walking 10 minutes from the Central Station ("Hauptbahnhof").
